Michigan Avenue Yard
Michigan Yard
The Michigan Ave yard appears to be the
second largest IHB yard (next to Blue Island), although Gibson is probably as
large by acreage. The Gibson yard handles autoracks exclusively, while Michigan
Ave. appears to have a variety of cars. My guess/observations indicate that the
yard is focused primarily on serving the steel mills and gas/chemical plants in
the area as evidenced by the large amount of gondolas, coil cars and tankers.
